WWII Pilot Carrier Aircraft Service Unit CASU 22 Hat Cap Decal of Patch Insignia Picture(s) and Description:
Great items from CASU 22, Carrier Aircraft Service Unit 22. CASU's serviced carrier aircraft when they were in port abroad and in the USA. They also trained others to service them when they were at sea, among other duties. The cap has a tag with 1942 on it, thought it is faint. The strap is missing. The duck insignia is a wartime decal that was applied to a piece of paper that was painted blue. The yellow circle and line also appear to be hand painted. The rest is a decal. Some of the green parts of the decal are missing. I believe the frame is postwar, but cannot say with certainty. The outside dimensions of the frame are 12 inceh by 9 1/2 inches. The brochures are for 1945 displays/events that CASU 22 hosted on Navy Day. One brochure states that Navy ace David McCampbell's Hellcat is on display. These are rare items that would make an excellent display!
